Total eclipse phenomenon

What is the difference between a total solar eclipse and a partial solar eclipse? A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely blocks sunlight from reaching a portion of the Earth within its umbra, as shown in the image. A partial solar eclipse, on the other hand, occurs when the moon passes in front of only a portion of the sun's disk, blocking sunlight from reaching areas within the penumbra.
